We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and skilled Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant primary school community in Preston. About the Role
As a Level 2 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SEN staff, and other support colleagues to deliver high‑quality learning experiences. Your responsibilities will include:
Classroom Support
- Assisting the class teacher with the planning and delivery of engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons.
- Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning, provide targeted interventions, and help pupils make sustained progress.
- Supporting pupils with literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum activities through well‑structured guidance and clear explanations.
Support for Pupils
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and supporting their social, emotional, and academic development.
- Delivering targeted support for children with SEND, following recommendations from the SENCO and external professionals.
- Encouraging independence, resilience, and confidence in all pupils.
Classroom Environment & Organisation
- Helping prepare learning materials, classroom displays, and resources to create an inspiring and purposeful environment.
- Assisting with behaviour management strategies to promote a safe, calm, and respectful school culture.
- Supervising pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and lunchtimes where required.
Professional Conduct
- Maintaining strong communication with colleagues, parents, and external agencies.
- Demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a solution‑focused approach to challenges.
- Upholding the school's safeguarding responsibilities and attending relevant training.
About You
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Holds a recognised Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Has experience supporting children in a primary school environment.
- Is passionate about helping children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Has a calm, nurturing manner and can respond sensitively to the needs of pupils.
- Works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to school life.
- Is reliable, committed, and able to start as soon as possible.
