Location: Preston Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
We are looking to appoint a compassionate and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs within our welcoming primary school in Preston. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, and external professionals to ensure every child receives the personalised support they need to flourish.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one or small-group support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including learning, behavioural, communication, and sensory needs.
- Implementing tailored support strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCo or class teacher.
- Helping pupils access the curriculum by adapting resources and offering differentiated support.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Assisting with the monitoring and recording of pupil progress, contributing to reviews and support plans.
- Supporting the safe and inclusive participation of pupils in lessons, transitions, break times, and school activities.
- Working collaboratively with staff and families to ensure consistency and high-quality provision.
Essential Requirements:
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Experience supporting children with SEND in a school environment (desirable).
- A patient, nurturing and flexible approach to meeting individual needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and positive.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
