Behavioural Specialist
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioural Specialist to provide dedicated support for two autistic pupils in a Bolton primary school. This role involves implementing personalised strategies to support emotional regulation, engagement with learning, and positive behaviour, while working closely with school staff and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small group support tailored to the individual needs of two SEN pupils.
- Implement behaviour support plans and autism-specific strategies to promote emotional wellbeing and engagement.
- Use therapeutic and structured approaches to help pupils manage transitions, sensory needs, and social interactions.
- Collaborate with class teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
- Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP reviews and other documentation.
- Promote inclusion and a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Preferable Experience
- Experience supporting autistic children in a primary school setting.
- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies.
- Familiarity with emotional regulation tools and behaviour management frameworks.
- Experience working with children with additional needs including ADHD, anxiety, or communication difficulties.
- Understanding of safeguarding and SEND legislation.
Qualifications
- Level 3 qualification in Behaviour Support, Teaching Assistance, Psychology, or a related field.
- Autism awareness or SEND training (e.g., NAS Autism Training, Team Teach).
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

- Experience
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs in a primary school setting. Experience developing and implementing individual behaviour support plans. Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches and restorative practices. Working knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection protocols. Experience collaborating with SENCOs.
- Qualifications
- Relevant Level 3 qualification or higher in education or a related field. Experience working with children in an educational setting. Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and CPS.
