Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a nurturing primary school environment. This role is ideal for someone with experience in SEN support and a passion for helping children thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a pupil with specific learning, behavioural or emotional needs.
  • Assist with the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
  • Support the pupil's engagement in classroom activities and promote independence.
  • Use strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Liaise closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and reports.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Preferable Experience

  • Previous experience in a 1:1 TA role or supporting children with SEN.
  • Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs.
  • Familiarity with de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Experience with visual aids, PECS, Makaton or Zones of Regulation.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, Autism Awareness).
