SEN Learning Support Worker/Teaching Assistant

We are currently working with various Special Educational Needs settings in the Leeds area who are looking to recruit multiple SEN teaching assistants, who have experience working with SEN learners and young adults, to start after October half term 2020.

As a SEN teaching assistant, you may be working within various settings, be that in a SEN centre or a mainstream school, with students of both primary and secondary age, depending on what role suits your ability and previous experience.

Throughout this role as a SEN TA, you will be required to support learners on a one to one basis in class, and to help within small groups of two to seven learners as well. The day to day support isn't just focused on supporting learners academically, throughout the day there will be focus on assisting them with both their social and behavioural needs too. The aim of this role is to help ensure that both the social and learning aspect of education is made accessible for all learners no matter what needs or challenges they may face.

Key skills and experiences required:

  • Previous SEN experiences (Autism, ASD, AFS)
  • Other previous support work with learners and young adults with needs
  • Team Teach and physical intervention techniques
  • Effective behaviour management strategies
  • Enthusiastic, hard-working, energetic
  • Able to build meaningful relationships with both learners and staff
  • SEN Teaching Assistants need to have effective behaviour management skills and Team Teach is essential, this can be provided if needed.
