Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working in SEMH or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) settings? If so, we want to hear from you!
We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour and Learning Mentor to join a specialist provision in Bromley, London. This role involves supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively with their education and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Build trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress.
- Support students both in and out of the classroom, including during transitions and break times.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor to students.
Requirements:
- Experience working in SEMH or PRU settings is highly desirable.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
