Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: Immediate / October Half Term 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)
About the Role
Veritas Education is working in partnership with a secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Officer for a full-time, long-term role.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced pastoral professional, youth worker, behaviour mentor, or support worker looking to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement across the school.
You will work closely with students, families, teaching staff, and external agencies to help remove barriers to learning and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4
- Support students with attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing concerns
- Deliver one-to-one mentoring and targeted interventions
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
- Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and staff
- Monitor and track student progress, attendance, and behaviour
- Assist with reintegration, restorative practice, and behaviour support strategies
- Work closely with safeguarding, SEND, and senior leadership teams
- Liaise with external agencies where required
- Maintain accurate records and reports
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with young people in education, youth work, mentoring, social care, or support settings
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Calm, resilient, and able to work effectively under pressure
- Passionate about supporting students to overcome barriers to learning
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
