SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Full-Time, Long-Term Role

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: Immediate / October Half Term 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)

About the Role

Veritas Education is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the Bradford area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support, helping them to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. The role will involve supporting students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties.

The school is looking for a committed individual who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with additional needs
  • Support students in lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Assist with implementing EHCP targets and support plans
  • Help students manage social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENDCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Support the development of students' confidence, independence, and life skills
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to relevant staff
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is desirable
  • Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, residential care, mentoring, or support work are welcomed
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Passionate about supporting young people to succeed
