SEN Support Assistant - Complex Needs (Bradford)
Location: Bradford
Contract: Full‑time / Part‑time (Agency)
Experience Required: Complex Needs / Personal Care / EYFS-Y6
We are recruiting confident, compassionate SEN Support Assistants to work within a specialist SEN school in Bradford, supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs.
Children are grouped based on availability and need rather than age, so you must be comfortable supporting all primary‑aged pupils, from EYFS through to Year 6.
This role requires someone who is patient, adaptable, and confident delivering personal care, emotional regulation support, and structured routines that help pupils feel safe and engaged.
Key Responsibilities
- 1:1 and group support for pupils with complex learning, sensory, physical, or communication needs
- Provide personal care confidently and sensitively (toileting, changing, hygiene routines)
- Support pupils who may be non‑verbal, using visual aids, communication tools, or alternative communication methods
- Work across EYFS-Y6, adapting your approach to suit different developmental stages
- Follow personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies set by teachers and the SENCO
- Create a calm, structured environment that promotes safety, independence, and positive behaviour
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who rely on consistency and reassurance
Desirable Skills & Training
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or physical needs
- Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification
