Description

Job Title: Learning Behaviour Mentor (SEMH)

The Role:

Support children and young people who face social, emotional, mental health (SEMH), or behavioural barriers that stop them from engaging with their education. Work inside mainstream schools, special educational needs (SEN) units, and alternative provisions (APs) to help students regulate emotions and achieve their potential.

Direct Support:

  • Provide 1-1 and group support to aid development in social and emotional skills, building relationships and resilience within an educational setting.
  • Support in academic studies and deliver interventions.
  • De-escalate challenging environments with calming strategies.
  • Engage in activities that build life skills and emotional regulation skills.
  • Work closely and support teachers and school staff.
  • Communicate and connect with parents/ carers to further support student's needs.
  • Collaborate with SEN specialists in support of child emotional regulation and social development.
  • Admin Support:

  • Utilise EHCP Plans to create personalise targets for pupils.
  • Update daily behaviour and progress trackers.
  • Log communications with parents and carers onto appropriate data platforms.
  • Requirements:

    Expected:

  • Ability to empathise with vulnerable pupils & patiently build trust and rapport.
  • Utilise emotional resilience with the capacity to stay calm under intense pressure and set clear boundaries.
  • Have strong communication skills with strong active listening and conflict resolution skills.
  • Have experience in working (volunteer/ paid) with children, youth work, vulnerable people, care settings.
  • Academic baseline of GCSE or Qualifications in English/Maths
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory. (We can help advise on this)
