Veritas Education is currently seeking confident, reliable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work in a range of secondary schools across Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced cover supervisors, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will deliver pre-set work, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students remain engaged and on task throughout lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise whole classes in the absence of teaching staff.
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and learning activities.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Support students in completing assigned work.
- Create a positive and productive learning environment.
- Report any concerns or incidents to the relevant school staff.
- Adapt confidently to different subjects and year groups.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with secondary-aged students in education, youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or similar settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent behaviour management and organisational abilities.
- Confidence leading groups of students independently.
- A proactive and flexible approach to work.
- A genuine passion for supporting young people's learning and development.

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Relevant references covering the last two years.
- Ability to travel to schools across the Wakefield area.
