We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wetherby, providing one-to-one support for a child with Down syndrome within Lower Key Stage 1. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a pupil, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive school environment.
The Role
- Providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with Down syndrome.
- Supporting learning activities both inside and outside the classroom.
- Encouraging the development of communication, social, and independence skills.
- Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals.
- Creating a positive and nurturing environment that enables the pupil to thrive.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working within a school setting would be highly advantageous.
- Alternatively, experience working with children in any capacity, such as childcare, youth work, sports coaching, care work, or community-based roles.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
