Teacher of the Deaf - SEN School
Location: Preston Start Date: ASAP / September 2026 Pay: Competitive daily rate in comparison to experience
We are a specialist education recruitment agency working with a well-established SEN school in Preston to appoint a Teacher of the Deaf for a long-term or permanent position. This role is ideal for an experienced or newly qualified specialist looking to make a real difference within a supportive SEN environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored teaching to pupils with hearing impairment and additional SEN
- Use appropriate communication methods (e.g. BSL, Total Communication, oral approaches)
- Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
- Work collaboratively with therapists, SEN staff, and families
- Contribute to EHCP planning, targets, and reviews
Requirements
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) - essential
- Teacher of the Deaf qualification (or working towards)
- Experience within SEN / hearing impairment settings
- Strong understanding of inclusive and differentiated teaching
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
