Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs? Veritas Education is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Outstanding SEN School in Southport. This role focuses on supporting students aged 16+ with a range of additional needs, helping them thrive in a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students aged 16+ with special educational needs, ensuring they are fully included in lessons and activities.

  • Assist with both academic and personal development, ensuring students are encouraged to reach their full potential.

  • Work alongside teachers, parents, and external agencies to support the holistic development of each student.

  • Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and suggesting areas for further improvement.

  • Implement and support behaviour management strategies, using de-escalation techniques when necessary to create a calm and safe learning environment.

  • Use your knowledge of the curriculum to support students in achieving their educational goals, adapting tasks to their individual learning needs.

  • Maintain a positive, patient, and inclusive attitude towards students, making a real difference in their educational journey.

  • Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people, preferably with SEN students, or a keen interest in SEN education.

  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting young people with additional needs.

  • A good understanding of behaviour management techniques and the ability to implement these strategies in a practical, supportive way.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team, collaborating with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure the best outcomes for students.

  • An optimistic outlook and a determination to help students overcome challenges and achieve success.
