Veritas Education are working with an academy trust looking to hire a teaching assistant to work with SEN for September and the beginning of the new academic year. Your role would be working closely with a student 1:1 on a contract basis. The successful teaching assistant will be working in Reception with a student that will have just joined the school. Experience as a teaching assistant would be preferable and recent graduates with an interest in special educational needs or psychology are encouraged to apply.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT
Teaching Assistant support for Pupils:Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leaderSet challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independenceImplement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who may have barriers to learningEstablish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectationsPromote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers:Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' workUse strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goalsDiscuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
Qualifications needed as a Teaching Assistant:
Essential:Good literacy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in English Language; Level 2 English or above; or equivalentGood numeracy skills - GCSE Grade C or above in Maths; Level 2 Maths or above; or equivalent
Desirable:An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
