SEMH Teacher - Specialist Autism Provision
Long‑term temporary role | Start: Easter | QTS preferred
A specialist school in Middlesbrough is seeking an experienced and passionate SEMH Teacher to join their team on a long‑term temporary basis from Easter. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed educator who thrives in nurturing, structured and highly personalised learning environments for children with autism and complex social, emotional and mental health needs.
The Role
- Delivering engaging, adaptive lessons tailored to pupils with ASD and SEMH needs
- Creating a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Working closely with support staff, therapists and SLT to meet EHCP targets
- Using consistent routines, clear communication and trauma‑informed approaches
- Managing behaviour positively and proactively
- Contributing to whole‑school safeguarding and wellbeing practice
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - strongly preferred
- Experience within ASD, SEMH or specialist settings
- Confident differentiating for a wide range of needs
- Calm, patient and resilient, with strong relationship‑building skills
- Fully enhanced DBS on the Update Service
