The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Functional Skills Lead to oversee English, Maths and Digital Skills provision across the organisation.
This is a leadership role with a teaching element, responsible for ensuring high standards in assessment, curriculum delivery and examination processes, while embedding Functional Skills across vocational and foundation pathways.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Functional Skills provision (Entry Level 1-Level 2), ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Oversee assessments, diagnostics, learner progress tracking and target setting.
- Develop schemes of work and individual learner plans, embedding Functional Skills across the wider curriculum.
- Manage exam processes, awarding body compliance and accurate assessment, including Speaking, Listening and Communication.
- Support and quality assure tutors through observations and coaching, while maintaining safeguarding, health and safety and collaborative working practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified teacher or recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience delivering Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level-Level 2).
- Experience working with young people with SEN or learning disabilities.
- Strong understanding of assessment, diagnostics, and exam processes.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with experience leading or mentoring staff.
