The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Functional Skills Lead to oversee English, Maths and Digital Skills provision across the organisation.

This is a leadership role with a teaching element, responsible for ensuring high standards in assessment, curriculum delivery and examination processes, while embedding Functional Skills across vocational and foundation pathways.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Functional Skills provision (Entry Level 1-Level 2), ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Oversee assessments, diagnostics, learner progress tracking and target setting.
  • Develop schemes of work and individual learner plans, embedding Functional Skills across the wider curriculum.
  • Manage exam processes, awarding body compliance and accurate assessment, including Speaking, Listening and Communication.
  • Support and quality assure tutors through observations and coaching, while maintaining safeguarding, health and safety and collaborative working practices.
  • Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified teacher or recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience delivering Functional Skills English and Maths (Entry Level-Level 2).
  • Experience working with young people with SEN or learning disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of assessment, diagnostics, and exam processes.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with experience leading or mentoring staff.
