Location: Ramsbottom, Greater Manchester Contract: Full-Time | Term-Time Only Setting: Independent Special School Ofsted: Rated 'Good'
Job Overview
We are recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly independent special school supporting pupils aged 7-16 (with some provision up to 19) with autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Set in a calm moorland environment above Ramsbottom, the school provides a nurturing, structured setting where pupils are supported through personalised learning and strong relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and SEMH needs
Support access to learning using differentiated and sensory-informed strategies
Promote emotional regulation, social skills, and positive behaviour
Support pupils with EHCP targets in collaboration with teachers and support staff
Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment
Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour
Support personal care and behavioural needs where required
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly autism and/or SEMH (essential)
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Ability to build positive relationships and work as part of a team
Level 2 or 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable)
Willingness to support personal care needs
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
