Primary SEN Teacher - Skelmersdale
Location: Skelmersdale Start Date: ASAP Pay: £175 - £230 per day
Are you a caring and committed Primary SEN Teacher looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing SEN Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary SEN setting in Skelmersdale, supporting pupils across EYFS and Primary age ranges. This role is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about early intervention, personalised learning, and helping children with additional needs thrive both academically and emotionally.
You will be working with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, communication difficulties, and SEMH. Teaching will be tailored to individual needs, with a strong focus on structure, routine, and positive relationships. The school places high value on inclusion, wellbeing, and close collaboration with families and external professionals.
The successful candidate will:
Be a confident and adaptable primary classroom teacher, experienced or keen to develop skills within SEN
Have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum and how to adapt it to meet diverse learning needs
Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons aligned with EHCP targets
Create a calm, supportive learning environment that promotes confidence and independence
Build positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and multidisciplinary teams
Contribute to a shared ethos that celebrates progress, however small
Essential requirements:
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
A genuine passion for working with primary-aged children with SEN
Strong behaviour management, communication, and teamwork skills
A clear commitment to safeguarding and child protection
An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply
Previous SEN experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from mainstream primary teachers who are eager to transition into SEN and develop specialist skills in a supportive environment.
