SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (2-Form Entry) Location: Hackney, East London

Veritas Education is currently recruiting an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive 2-form entry primary school in the borough of Hackney. This is an inclusive, welcoming school with a strong commitment to meeting the needs of pupils with special educational needs and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their full potential.

The school has a positive, collaborative staff team and a clear focus on inclusion. Leaders are supportive, the SENCo is highly involved, and staff are given clear guidance and resources to help them succeed in their roles. Children are known as individuals, and relationships between staff and pupils are strong.

This role is ideal for someone with previous SEN experience who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis or working with small groups across the school, depending on needs and experience.

The role:

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs. The role involves supporting learning in class, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and emotional regulation. You will be calm, patient, and proactive, with a genuine commitment to inclusive practice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis * Helping pupils access the curriculum and learning activities * Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development * Implementing strategies and support plans set by the SENCo * Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils * Encouraging independence and positive engagement in learning

  • Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (essential) * Experience supporting children with special educational needs in a primary school setting * A patient, caring, and resilient approach * Good literacy and numeracy skills * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
