Year 1 ASD one-to-one Teaching Assistant - Preston

  • Full Time, Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm
  • Start Date: Thursday 5th February 2026 - July 2026
  • Pay: £13.68-£16ph
  • A warm and nurturing primary school in Preston is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD. The role will begin on Thursday 5th February 2026 and will run until the end of the academic year (July 2026).

    This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a child's school experience while becoming part of a friendly, supportive school community.

    About the Role

  • Providing 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD, helping them to engage, learn, and participate in school life
  • Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday to Friday
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to implement tailored strategies and adapt learning activities
  • Supporting the child's communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and independence
  • Assisting with routines, transitions, and creating a calm, structured learning environment
  • Ongoing support throughout the placement from Skye Harrison, Consultant at Veritas Education
  • What We're Looking For

    The school is seeking a patient, caring, and proactive Teaching Assistant who can build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.

    Essential qualities include:

  • Previous experience supporting pupils in a primary or SEND setting
  • Understanding of ASD and strategies that encourage engagement and communication
  • A nurturing, calm, and consistent approach
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and follow support plans
  • Strong communication, reliability, and a professional attitude
