SEN Teacher (SEMH)
Location: Middlesbrough Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: MPS (England & Wales) Start Date: January or ASAP
Veritas Education are proud to be supporting a small, mixed specialist SEMH school in Middlesbrough catering for young people aged 11-19. The school provides a highly nurturing, therapeutic environment for students with complex needs, including SEMH and ASD, many of whom have experienced significant barriers to learning in mainstream settings.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a passionate team committed to transforming outcomes for vulnerable learners. The school focuses on removing barriers, building confidence, and helping every student realise their full potential through personalised learning and consistent emotional support.
The Role
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet a range of needs across KS3-KS5.
- Create a safe, structured and stimulating learning environment for students with diverse and complex needs.
- Work closely with therapeutic and pastoral teams to support students' emotional well-being.
- Use strong behaviour management strategies to promote positive engagement and resilience.
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives aimed at improving progress, behaviour and personal development.
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has a minimum of two years' experience teaching within SEN settings (SEMH experience is highly desirable).
- Demonstrates a passionate belief in the potential of SEND learners.
- Is a confident, adaptable classroom practitioner with excellent behaviour management skills.
