About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in a specialist SEN school in Rochester, Medway. This school caters for pupils with a wide range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning challenges.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is a highly rewarding position for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group support tailored to pupils' needs.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
- Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Support pupils with personal care and mobility needs where required.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through consistent strategies.
- Help pupils develop communication, social, and independence skills.
- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCO.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and external agencies.
- Liaise with parents and carers to ensure continuity of support.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children with SEN (essential).
- Knowledge of Autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
- Enhanced Child DBS (or willingness to obtain).
- Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
