About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our inclusive and nurturing school community. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access the curriculum and thrive socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPs and learning profiles
- Create a safe, stimulating, and supportive classroom environment
- Use a range of strategies and resources to support pupils with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties
- Collaborate with SENCO, support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate records
- Implement behaviour support plans and promote positive behaviour
- Contribute to the wider school community and uphold safeguarding standards
Person Specification
Essential- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Proven experience working with children with SEN
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
Desirable- Experience with EHCPs and multi-agency working
- Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or other communication aids
- Training in Team Teach or similar behaviour management approaches
- Knowledge of trauma-informed or therapeutic teaching practices
