SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School Provision Location: Keighley, West Yorkshire Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term (Temp to Perm Opportunities Available) Agency: Veritas Education
Veritas Education is working in close partnership with secondary schools in the Keighley area to recruit passionate and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistants. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Role Overview: You will be supporting students with SEMH needs within an onsite school provision, helping them to access learning and manage their emotional wellbeing. The role requires a calm, empathetic and consistent approach, with a focus on building positive relationships and promoting engagement in education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement individual support plans
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is highly desirable
- A patient, compassionate and proactive approach to supporting vulnerable learners
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
