Graduate Teaching Assistant - KS1 with SEN Focus Location: Hackney Start Date: ASAP Daily Rate: £85-£100 (depending on experience) Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
A forward-thinking and inclusive primary school in Hackney is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support KS1 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with a strong academic background who is looking to gain hands-on experience in education, particularly within the SEN field.
The role involves working closely with children who may have a range of needs, including autism (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for KS1 pupils with additional needs
- Assist in implementing personalised learning strategies and EHCP targets
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress and adapt support
- Help create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Provide support with daily classroom routines and occasional personal care where needed
Ideal Candidate:
- A degree holder or candidate with a strong academic background (psychology, education, or related fields advantageous)
- Previous experience working with children, particularly with SEN (preferred but not essential)
- A confident, calm, and proactive approach to supporting young learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in education and child development
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
