SEN Teaching Assistant - ASD Specialist

Location: Camberwell, Lambeth Setting: Secondary ASD School Daily Rate: £90-£110 (Depending on Experience) Start Date: ASAP | Full-Time | Long-Term Role

We're looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant with experience in ASD to join a brilliant, supportive Secondary ASD school in Camberwell (Lambeth). This is a long-term, full-time position with fantastic opportunities for training and progression.

  • Your Role as an ASD SEN Teaching Assistant:

    You'll play a vital role in supporting students aged 11-16 with Autism, including those with complex needs and non-verbal communication. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to help deliver a personalised, engaging curriculum.

    Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small group sessions

  • Aiding in the delivery of tailored lessons to meet students' EHCP targets

  • Using visual aids, PECS, Makaton or AAC (where applicable)

  • Creating a calm, structured learning environment

  • Promoting social skills, independence and emotional regulation

  • Assisting with personal care when required (some roles may involve this)

  • Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (ASD)

  • Strong understanding of communication and sensory needs

  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable

  • Team player with a proactive attitude

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)

  • Desirable (But Not Essential):

  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or TEACCH

  • Background in SEN schools, residential care, or youth work

  • Experience with challenging behaviour or complex needs
