A forward-thinking secondary school in Haringey is offering an exciting opportunity for a Science graduate to join their team as a Science Teaching Assistant. This is the ideal position for someone who's passionate about science, enjoys working with young people, and is considering a future in education, research, or public engagement.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, classroom-based role where you'll support students in Key Stages 3 and 4 across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You'll work closely with the science department, assisting with lesson delivery, practical experiments, revision sessions, and differentiated support for students who need extra help or stretch challenges.
You will:
Work with individuals and small groups to support understanding of science topics
Assist in setting up and running lab experiments and demonstrations
Provide tailored academic support to students preparing for GCSE exams
Help manage behaviour and encourage engagement in the subject
Support the class teacher in delivering dynamic, practical lessons
Who We're Looking For:
A 2:1 or above in a science-related degree (Biology, Chemistry, Physics or related field)
Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for science education
Clear communication skills and a confident, professional manner
A genuine interest in working with young people and supporting learning
Previous experience working with students or young people is a bonus, but not essential
Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check if not already on the Update Service
