Location: Hackney, London Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only Salary: £100 - £110 per day

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic secondary school in Hackney. This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to pursue a career in education, psychology, youth work, or counselling.
The Role:
You will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health challenges. This is a varied and rewarding position, ideal for someone who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing one-to-one and small group support in and out of the classroom
Assisting teachers in adapting lesson materials and classroom activities
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
Working alongside teaching staff and the SENCO to monitor pupil progress and implement support strategies
Building strong relationships with students to foster confidence, independence and resilience
Person Specification:
Degree (minimum lower second)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
Ability to use initiative and respond flexibly to the needs of individual students
Some experience working with young people or in educational settings is desirable, though not essential
A current DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
This role would suit someone considering a future career in education, psychology, therapy or youth work, and offers excellent hands-on experience in a supportive and inclusive school environment.
