Role information:
We are current working with a wonderful mainstream school in Leyland seeking an experienced British Sign Language (BSL) Teaching Assistant to join their friendly and ambitious team. The professional staff members provide specialised education that transforms the lives of children and is driven by a genuine passion for making a change. As a B.S.L. Teaching Assistant, you will have the full support from the class teacher and the Senior Leadership Team who all firmly emphasises the importance of employee wellbeing and career development.
You will be working on a one-to-one basis with a new pupil coming into the school. The school are wanting a BSL teaching assistant that can work both independently but also effectively alongside the class teacher. You will be responsible for making the work accessible for this pupil and creating a fun, safe, and engaging working environment.
Candidate Requirements:
- Certified in British Sign language (B.S.L.)
- Experience working with children/young people with Special Educational Needs
- Ability to relay B.S.L. from hearing impaired students to non-signing students
- Be dedicated, engaging and inspiring
- Be committed to ensuring pupils make good, sustained progress
- Assist and support the classroom teacher with the day-to-day running of a class.
- Will go above and beyond to change the lives of young people.
- Excels in building solid relationships with students and staff.
- Can adjust to and overcome challenges whilst following appropriate protocol
All applicants must adhere to the following:
- All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy
- Your CV must cover the last 5 years (minimum) of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained
- Able to provide minimum of 2 references which need to be either work-based or academic and cover the last 2 years.
- You must have legal right to work in the UK
- You must be willing to attend a registration interview
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. We do offer our schools the option to take all staff members onto contract, following this temporary position.
