Job Title: Part-Time Year 1 Teacher
School: Single-Form Entry Mainstream Primary School
Location: Lancaster
Start Date: Immediate start, until the end of the academic year (July 2024)
Hours: 0.6FT, 3 days per week
Position Overview:
Veritas Education are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a supportive and diverse teaching team. This position will be as part of a job share. An excellent opportunity for an experienced educator with a strong background in early development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging phonics lessons using evidence-based programs such as Letters and Sounds or Read Write Inc., alongside the broader Year 1 curriculum.
- Incorporate a variety of multisensory activities and resources to support acquisition and develop early academic skills.
- Create a supportive and stimulating learning environment that encourages active participation and fosters a love for development.
- Assess student progress through ongoing observation, formative assessment, and periodic assessments, providing targeted support and intervention as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, participate in professional development opportunities, and contribute to the school's initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in education or relevant subject area, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
- Experience teaching in a Key Stage 1 setting, with a strong understanding of principles, progression, and effective teaching strategies.
- Familiarity with phonics schemes such as Letters and Sounds, Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics, or similar programs.
- Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a reflective approach to practice.
