Title: Nurture Teacher
The Role
As a Nurture Teacher, you will work with KS3 and KS4 students in small-group settings, supporting both their academic development and wider personal growth. You will play an important role in helping students develop confidence, emotional regulation, independence and positive relationships, whilst continuing to make progress across the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, interactive and appropriately differentiated lessons.
- Teach and support students across KS3 and KS4, adapting learning to individual needs and abilities.
- Build strong, positive and lasting relationships with students.
- Create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment where students feel secure and ready to learn.
- Support students to develop independence, confidence, resilience and emotional regulation.
- Promote academic development across core subjects including English, Maths, Science and PSHE.
- Work closely with classroom support staff and wider professionals to ensure consistent support.
- Confidently manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation, diversion and positive behaviour strategies.
- Recognise individual triggers and implement appropriate strategies to prevent and manage crisis situations.
- Maintain high expectations whilst providing appropriate support and encouragement.
- Contribute to individual support plans and help monitor students' progress and development.
Requirements
- QTS or a recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with students with SEMH needs and/or challenging or at-risk behaviour.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum.
- Experience working with learners with a range of abilities, needs and backgrounds.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour and responding calmly to crisis situations.
- Knowledge of positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.
- The ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with young people.
- A patient, adaptable and nurturing approach to teaching.
- A commitment to helping students achieve both academically and personally.
