PMLD Teacher - Specialist School - Kingston Area
Are you a passionate, patient and dedicated Teacher who enjoys supporting pupils with complex needs and making a real difference to their lives?
We are currently recruiting for a PMLD Teacher to join a specialist school in the Kingston area, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and a range of additional needs.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about inclusive education, can create a nurturing and engaging learning environment, and is committed to helping every pupil achieve their full potential.
You may have a background in specialist education, SEN teaching, primary education, early years, complex needs, or a related setting. Most importantly, you will be someone who is patient, adaptable and able to provide a high level of care and support while delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
The Role
As a PMLD Teacher, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with PMLD and complex needs.
Support pupils with communication, cognition, physical development, sensory needs and emotional wellbeing.
Develop personalised learning programmes that reflect each pupil's individual needs, abilities and interests.
Use a range of sensory, communication and therapeutic approaches to support learning and development.
Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, SENCOs and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to education.
Create a calm, safe and stimulating learning environment where pupils feel supported and valued.
Monitor, assess and record pupil progress against individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
Encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence and functional life skills.
Support pupils with personal care and medical needs where required, following appropriate training and school procedures.
Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
Who We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience teaching or supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, complex needs or profound learning difficulties.
Experience working in specialist schools, SEN provisions, or other complex-needs settings.
A strong understanding of differentiation, sensory learning and personalised education.
The ability to create engaging learning experiences for pupils with a wide range of abilities.
A patient, nurturing and highly adaptable approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and promoting positive outcomes for every pupil.
Experience supporting pupils with personal care, physical disabilities or medical needs would be beneficial.
Valid Child and Adult DBS essential.
You don't necessarily need extensive previous experience as a PMLD Teacher. If you have a strong SEN teaching background and are passionate about supporting pupils with complex needs, we would be keen to hear from you.
