Veritas Education is currently recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs within a welcoming and inclusive school in Batley.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Assist students with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help create a safe, nurturing learning environment.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and SENCOs where required.
  • The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • A patient, caring and supportive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a variety of situations.
  • A passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or complex needs.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and intervention techniques.
  • Experience working within an educational, care or support setting.
