DT Technician - Full-Time, Long-Term Role

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Employer: Veritas Education (on behalf of a partner secondary school)

About the Role

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a proactive and organised Design & Technology (DT) Technician for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and creative DT department, supporting staff and students across a range of specialist areas, including Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, and Construction.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring practical lessons run smoothly by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and supporting health and safety procedures within the workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for practical DT lessons
  • Support teachers and students during practical activities where required
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and workshop equipment
  • Ensure all workshop areas are safe, clean, and organised
  • Manage stock levels and order supplies when necessary
  • Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment
  • Assist with the preparation of project materials and displays
  • Support compliance with health and safety regulations at all times
  • The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience working within a DT department, workshop, engineering, construction, or manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Good practical skills and knowledge of tools and machinery
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
