Autism Specialist Support Staff
We are seeking compassionate, skilled and proactive individuals with specialist knowledge of Autism (ASC) to join a highly regarded SEN school in Bradford. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a wide range of communication, sensory and social‑emotional needs, helping them access learning and thrive in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Autism‑specific support - using visual timetables, structured routines and clear communication
- Deliver personalised strategies for sensory regulation, transitions and emotional support
- Work 1:1 or with small groups to develop communication, social interaction and independence
- Implement programmes designed by teachers, therapists and SENCOs
- Support pupils with behaviour linked to communication or sensory needs
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
- Contribute to progress reviews and maintain accurate support records
???? What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with Autism (school, care or community settings)
- Understanding of sensory processing differences, communication needs and structured teaching approaches
- Calm, patient and consistent approach
- Ability to follow support plans and work collaboratively
- Willingness to undertake training such as Makaton, PECS or autism‑specific CPD
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
