English Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN Support) - Secondary School
Are you an English graduate looking to gain invaluable school experience?
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Brent is seeking an ambitious English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its successful English Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate who is considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, or SEND education.
You will work closely with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access the English curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
The Role:
- Support students with SEN during English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Work alongside experienced English teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group literacy interventions.
- Support students with needs including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Dyslexia, and Speech & Language difficulties.
- Help develop reading comprehension, written communication, spelling, and grammar skills.
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, and independence
Requirements:
- A degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, Journalism or related subject
- A passion for education and supporting young people
- An interest in teaching, SEND, educational psychology, or pastoral support.
- Experience with children or young people
