Lead SEND Teacher
Veritas Education is delighted to be exclusively recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Burnley for a SEND Lead Teacher.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to take a leading role in shaping and developing SEND provision across the school while making a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional needs. The successful candidate will join a supportive leadership team that is committed to inclusion, high-quality teaching, and ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
We are ideally seeking an experienced SEND teacher with a strong background in inclusive practice. However, we also welcome applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have a recognised SEND specialism and are eager to develop their career within a supportive school environment.
This role is offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff for the right candidate.
The Role
As SEND Lead Teacher, you will:
- Lead and champion SEND provision across the school.
- Deliver outstanding teaching and tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs.
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, teaching assistants, parents, and external agencies.
- Support colleagues in delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews where appropriate.
- Help develop and embed effective SEND strategies across the school.
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Ideally have experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a primary setting.
- Be an experienced SEND practitioner or an ECT with a recognised SEND specialism.
- Have excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
- Be passionate about inclusion and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
