A well-established mixed secondary school (11-16) in Middlesbrough is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Administration Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis to cover maternity leave.
This is a key role within the school, supporting the smooth running of attendance processes and helping to promote high levels of student engagement and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, record and maintain accurate daily student attendance data
- Follow up on student absences, including first-day calling procedures
- Liaise with parents/carers regarding attendance concerns
- Produce and maintain attendance reports for senior leadership
- Support the school's safeguarding procedures, ensuring all absence concerns are logged and escalated appropriately
- Work closely with pastoral teams to improve student attendance
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Provide general administrative support where required
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in an administrative or school-based role (attendance experience desirable)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident using systems such as SIMS, Arbor or similar MIS
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A proactive and professional approach
- Strong understanding of the importance of attendance and safeguarding in education
