SEN Teaching Assistant - PMLD
Location: Lambeth, South London Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only
The Role
A specialist SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The role involves supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them to access education in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience who is passionate about working with pupils with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with PMLD
- Assist with personal care, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times
- Support students with PEG feeding in line with care plans and training
- Work closely with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams
- Support learning, communication, and sensory development
- Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD
- Experience with PEG feeding
- Experience providing personal care
Desirable:
- Previous experience in an SEN school or similar setting
Skills:
- Patient, calm, and caring approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
