Learning Support Assistant (SEND) - Blackpool
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive education setting in Blackpool. This role involves working closely with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing both 1:1 and 2:1 tailored support to help learners access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support for students with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
- Support students with academic tasks, social development, and emotional regulation
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
- Support students during transitions, breaks, and off-site activities where required
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or similar role
- Demonstrated experience supporting pupils in both 1:1 and 2:1 capacities
- Understanding of SEND needs and strategies to support learning and behaviour
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) are desirable
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques (e.g., Team Teach)
- Experience in primary or secondary education settings
