Learning Support Assistant (SEND) - Blackpool

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive education setting in Blackpool. This role involves working closely with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing both 1:1 and 2:1 tailored support to help learners access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and 2:1 support for students with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
  • Support students with academic tasks, social development, and emotional regulation
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Support students during transitions, breaks, and off-site activities where required
  • Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or similar role
  • Demonstrated experience supporting pupils in both 1:1 and 2:1 capacities
  • Understanding of SEND needs and strategies to support learning and behaviour
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent) are desirable
  • Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques (e.g., Team Teach)
  • Experience in primary or secondary education settings
