About the Role Veritas Education are supporting a well-regarded secondary school in Wakefield in their search for a committed and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a role within a supportive department that values high-quality teaching and learning.
This position is suitable for both experienced English Teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about delivering engaging lessons and improving outcomes for pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential KS5 teaching for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and creative English lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Teach across a range of abilities at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
- Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress effectively
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and achievement
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives
- Support whole-school priorities and uphold behaviour standards
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school setting
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
- Effective classroom management and communication skills
- A commitment to raising standards and supporting pupil progress
- A proactive, professional and adaptable approach
