Veritas Education is working with a well-established SEMH college in New Malden to recruit a dedicated and resilient Lecturer to support young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work with students who require a personalised, nurturing approach to learning, helping them develop both academically and personally.
The Role
You will be delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to learners with a range of additional needs, supporting their progression into further education, employment, and independence.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering tailored lessons to meet individual learning needs
- Supporting students with SEMH, Autism, and complex behavioural needs
- Promoting engagement, confidence, and independent learning
- Managing behaviour positively using trauma-informed strategies
- Working collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and wider college teams
- Contributing to EHCP targets, reviews, and student progress tracking
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience teaching within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings
- A strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation
- Experience delivering functional skills or vocational subjects (desirable)
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, resilient and adaptable approach
- A genuine commitment to supporting young people with complex needs
