Are you a Maths graduate looking to gain hands-on classroom experience before moving into teacher training? This Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant role is an excellent opportunity for aspiring teachers who want meaningful, full-time experience in a secondary school environment. You'll be working in a supportive and ambitious school in Brent, helping students aged 11-16 to develop confidence and achievement in maths
You will work closely with maths teachers and students, providing targeted academic support and contributing positively to classroom learning.
This role is particularly well suited to graduates considering:
- PGCE or School Direct teacher training
- A long-term career in secondary education
- Building experience before applying for salaried teacher routes
Key Responsibilities
- Support Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Provide 1:1 and small group intervention for students who need extra support
- Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Help manage behaviour and promote a focused learning environment
- Support students with classwork, homework, and exam preparation
- Contribute to wider school life, including enrichment and extracurricular activities
Person Specification
- A degree in Maths or a Maths-related subject
- A genuine interest in education and working with young people
- Some experience with secondary-aged students (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, summer schools, or previous TA work)
- Confident communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Reliable, proactive, and enthusiastic attitude
