Behaviour Support Mentor
11-16 Mixed Secondary School | Middlesbrough Start: ASAP | Long‑term Temporary Contract
Pay: £95-£110 p/day
Veritas Education are working with a vibrant, inclusive 11-16 mixed secondary school in Middlesbrough who are seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to join their team on a long‑term temporary basis, starting as soon as possible.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a confident and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed both academically and socially.
As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will:
- Provide targeted support to students who require help managing their behaviour and engagement in school
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and senior leaders to promote positive behaviour for learning
- Support students in lessons and around the school, helping them to remain focused, calm and ready to learn
- Respond effectively to challenging situations, using de‑escalation strategies and a calm, consistent approach
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may need additional guidance and structure
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong classroom presence and natural authority
- Is calm, resilient and able to handle pressure in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrates excellent behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
- Is patient, empathetic and consistent in their approach
- Has experience working with children or young people in a school, PRU, youth work, care or similar setting (desirable but not essential)
