Learning Support Assistant (1:1 Support)
Primary Schools, Wakefield
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to work across a group of primary schools in the Wakefield area. This role focuses on providing dedicated 1:1 support to children with additional learning, behavioural, or communication needs, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
???? Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 learning support tailored to the needs of individual pupils.
- Assist with classroom activities, small-group work, and personalised interventions.
- Help children develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver effective support plans.
- Promote an inclusive, nurturing, and safe learning environment.
✔️ Requirements
- Experience working 1:1 with children in a school or similar setting is essential.
- Understanding of SEND, including strategies for supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning delays.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to work across multiple school sites.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
