Veritas Education is looking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across the Kirklees area. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates who are considering a career in teaching or education and want to gain valuable, hands-on classroom experience.
You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and senior leaders, supporting pupils aged 11-16 in both mainstream and specialist settings. Your role will involve providing academic support, classroom supervision, 1:1 intervention, and contributing to a positive, safe learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils in lessons, helping them to engage with learning and achieve their full potential
- Provide 1:1 and small-group intervention sessions in core subjects where required
- Assist class teachers with lesson preparation, behaviour management, and classroom organisation
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive environment aligned with safeguarding and school policies
- Build positive relationships with pupils to promote confidence, independence, and resilience
About You
We would love to hear from you if you are:
- A recent graduate (any subject considered, but education, psychology, or English are desirable)
- Passionate about supporting young people and helping them succeed academically and personally
- Professional, reliable, and confident working with secondary-aged learners
- Able to build rapport with staff and students
- Interested in a future career in teaching, youth work, educational psychology, or similar fields
Experience working with young people-whether through volunteering, tutoring, coaching, or mentoring-is beneficial but not essential. Full training and ongoing support will be provided by Veritas Education.
