Job Advert: PR3 - SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Position: SEND Teaching Assistant (PR3) Type: 1:1 and 1:2 Support Across Two Classes Start Date: April 2026 - July 2026
We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:2 basis across two classes, supporting two children who have recently received their EHCPs. This role will primarily involve in‑class support in collaboration with the class teachers, alongside delivering some 1:1 and small‑group interventions.
This closing date is Monday 9th March 2026, shortlisting will take place on the 11th with interviews commencing the following week. Early applications are strongly advised.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Provide high‑quality support tailored to the individual needs of two pupils with SEND.
- Work closely with class teachers to ensure inclusive, supportive and effective learning experiences.
- Help remove barriers to learning, particularly around Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families and staff.
- Use relational, low‑demand and trauma‑informed approaches to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

- Relates well to children and communicates with warmth, patience and positivity.
- Works effectively as part of a team and contributes to a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.
- Understands the challenges faced by pupils with SEMH needs and responds with empathy and consistency.
- Has knowledge or training in trauma‑informed practice, low‑demand approaches, and relational strategies (or a willingness to learn).
- Is committed to the wellbeing, progress and independence of the pupils they support.
