Location: Preston Start Date: ASAP Pay: negotiable Contract: Full‑time, 8-4pm, Long term
Veritas Education is supporting a specialist SEN school in Preston that is looking to appoint a confident and highly organised School Business Support Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration or finance experience who is passionate about supporting a school that makes a real difference for children with complex needs.
The Role
You will be a key member of the school's administrative and business support team, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations across finance, HR, and compliance. Typical responsibilities include:
- Providing administrative and operational support to the School Business Manager
- Managing finance tasks including invoicing, purchase orders, petty cash, and budget monitoring
- Supporting HR processes such as staff files, safeguarding checks, onboarding, and compliance
- Handling attendance data and supporting payroll administration
- Maintaining accurate records using systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom
- Liaising with external agencies, therapy teams, transport providers, and local authorities
- Supporting office functions including reception cover when required
- Ensuring all safeguarding and GDPR procedures are followed at a high standard
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN professionals

What We're Looking For
- Experience working in a school office or in an SEN setting (desirable)
- Strong administrative or finance background
- Excellent organisational, communication, and IT skills
- Ability to work sensitively and professionally within an SEN environment
- Experience with MIS systems (SIMS/Arbor/Bromcom) preferred
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply
