Job Title: Vocational SEN Teacher (Ages 16-25) - Full-Time Location: Burnley, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Role Overview We are looking for a dedicated and flexible Vocational SEN Teacher to join our team at a specialist vocational college in Burnley. The role involves teaching a range of vocational subjects to young people aged 16-25 with special educational needs, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning differences. You will be part of a supportive and inclusive team, helping to shape and deliver an engaging curriculum tailored to the needs and aspirations of each student.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver vocational lessons in subjects such as construction, hospitality, business, or IT, adapting materials and teaching methods to suit the diverse needs of learners.

  • Teach across a range of vocational disciplines, supporting students with varied levels of ability and learning needs.

  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans (ILPs) and monitor progress against set targets.

  • Foster an inclusive and structured learning environment that promotes both academic achievement and personal development.

  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students.

  • Assess, track, and report on student progress, ensuring that each student's achievements are recognised and celebrated.

  • Provide additional support for students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, encouraging positive development in all areas of life.

  • Requirements

  • QTS/QTLS (essential)

  • Proven experience teaching students with SEN in a vocational or practical setting

  • Strong understanding of the needs of young people with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning differences

  • Ability to differentiate lessons and assessments to meet the diverse needs of vocational learners

  • Passion for vocational education and helping students achieve meaningful qualifications

  • Calm, supportive approach with excellent classroom management skills

  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
