Job Title: Vocational SEN Teacher (Ages 16-25) - Full-Time Location: Burnley, Lancashire Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview We are looking for a dedicated and flexible Vocational SEN Teacher to join our team at a specialist vocational college in Burnley. The role involves teaching a range of vocational subjects to young people aged 16-25 with special educational needs, including those with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning differences. You will be part of a supportive and inclusive team, helping to shape and deliver an engaging curriculum tailored to the needs and aspirations of each student.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver vocational lessons in subjects such as construction, hospitality, business, or IT, adapting materials and teaching methods to suit the diverse needs of learners.
Teach across a range of vocational disciplines, supporting students with varied levels of ability and learning needs.
Develop and implement individualised learning plans (ILPs) and monitor progress against set targets.
Foster an inclusive and structured learning environment that promotes both academic achievement and personal development.
Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external agencies to provide holistic support for students.
Assess, track, and report on student progress, ensuring that each student's achievements are recognised and celebrated.
Provide additional support for students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs, encouraging positive development in all areas of life.
Requirements
QTS/QTLS (essential)
Proven experience teaching students with SEN in a vocational or practical setting
Strong understanding of the needs of young people with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning differences
Ability to differentiate lessons and assessments to meet the diverse needs of vocational learners
Passion for vocational education and helping students achieve meaningful qualifications
Calm, supportive approach with excellent classroom management skills
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
